Abendbrot Mainz

I was very happy to be invited to give a talk together with Henning Walther entitled »Bending the Map« at Abendbrot Mainz. After finishing our degree project Hier & Dasein, Henning moved to Frankfurt and joined hauser lacour while I focussed on running my own studio HelloMe.

We shared some insights in the different working processes involved in small and bigger studios, talked about Berlin, Frankfurt, friendship, freedom, collaboration, exploration and a little bit about design.

we had a great evening and enjoyed every bit of it, along some other well chosen speakers like Julian Zimmermann of Deutsche & Japaner or Helena Dietrich of Bureau Mario Lombardo

Workshop Münster

On the 25th of november Till gave a one day workshop on experimental typedesign entitled »Happy Little Accidents« at FH Münster. Within one day, a group of ten students developed an alphabet composed of all kinds of experimentally designed letters. Every student designed 3-4 letters, that later on were composed to form one whole alphabet with an amazingly diverse set of ideas.

At the end of the workshop the group designed a two color poster featuring the title of the workshop and all the 26 letter + numbers.

Videoclub – Delta Amacuro

Videoclub will be on Delta Amacuro Tour through Germany from the 16th of september.

For their Delta Amacuro Tour EP, posters, flyers and merchandise we worked with Annett Kuhlmann from Marsano to create a colorful reinterpretation of Videoclub’s visual identity. Already looking forward to work on their upcoming Album, coming 2012.

Make sure to check the Videoclub Video-Tour-Teaser here.

NEW WORK & WEBSITE

HelloYou. After a long time being stuck with a very old (and fairly bad) flash-website we finally managed to arrive in 2011. We got rid of flash, moved the logo a little, replaced pixelfonts for our old love Helvetica and a custom version of it and also managed to fill in a lot of new content. We hope you share our enthusiasm.

HelloYou, the curated blog of HelloMe will follow in the next weeks.

Displayed above is a detail shot from the visual identity we created for Troberg in 2011.

IdN v18n3

the upcoming issue of hongkong-based magazine IdN v18n3: Glitch Issue (Making the Perfect Accidents) features HelloMe with an extensive studio portrait in their print and online issue.

It features a lot of unpublished work that will also be going live on the brand new HelloMe website this july which we are very excited about. (finally getting rid of flash, haha.)

HM Tilm at Barneys New York

BARNEYS NEW YORK is without a doubt one of the most high class fashion retailers in the world. based right in the heart of Madison Avenue, the house is well known for it’s superb window designs. they hosted a very special event featuring style icon Daphne Guinness  who suddenly appeared in one of the Barneys windows. Clad in a pale-gray duck and ostrich feather gown by Alexander McQueen Ms. Guinness blurred the line between fashion, art, and pre-party primping.

For the window lettering they went with a very exclusive typeface: HM Tilm.

It is the first use of Tilm outside our own studio and we feel honoured. take a look at a video documentation of the event here

Patrick Desbrosses
